ED Infection Prevention Practices Survey

We began the project by developing two robust survey tools: one for ED directors and another for infection preventionists (IPs). We conducted a literature review of surveys that had previously been administered to hospitals, intensive care units, infection preventionists and practice guidelines for healthcare associated infections (HAIs). From these we extracted best practices and developed survey questions. The research team and our expert consultants revised the tool through multiple rounds. The tools contain the following domains: central venous catheters (CVCs), urinary catheters, hand hygiene, precautions, general infection prevention and control questions. Additionally, the IP survey addresses the hospital’s infection prevention and control program. Manuscript is currently in progress.
